KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) -- The UCSI University and Maxis Bhd
are teaming up to offer university students high-speed internet access.
Under the agreement, Maxis will provide high-speed WIFI services up to
50mbps that can be subscribed directly using mobile phones.
Both parties have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the
smart partnership.
In addition, the services will enable students to interact with their lecturers
outside their normal class hours, together with online delivery methods
such as downloading podcats of their lectures, conducting a research and
join online group discussions.
The WIFI service is currently on a free three-month trial basis and will be
available at a low daily, weekly or monthly rate for students.
Maxis senior vice-president (business division) M Fitri Abdullah said tew
international students at the University would also benefit from the
partnership.
"They will receive both pre-paid mobile services and broadband internet
worth RM200 for free upon their arrival at the university," he added.
